THE DAILY CRUNCH
FRIDAY, AUGUST 3 2018 By Anthony Ha

Apple is now valued at a trillion dollars, Peloton raises $550 million and Fortnite is coming to Android. Here's your Daily Crunch for August 3, 2018.

1. Tim Cook to Apple staff: $1TR in shareholder value isn't what drives us

As of yesterday, Apple became the first company to be worth more than $1 trillion. In a staff memo obtained by BuzzFeed News, CEO Tim Cook both acknowledged the milestone and suggested that employees not get too hung up on it.

"Financial returns are simply the result of Apple's innovation, putting our products and customers first, and always staying true to our values," Cook wrote.

2. Peloton raises $550M at a valuation of $4 billion

Earlier this year, Peloton announced its second product, a connected treadmill, which the company still says will launch to consumers this fall.

3. Epic Games sidesteps the Play Store with Fortnite for Android launch

Epic Games is now confirming that the Android version of the insanely popular game will be available exclusively through the Fortnite website.

4. Google Maps' location sharing will now share your phone's battery status, too

Early in 2017, Google added a feature to Google Maps that lets you opt to share your location in (near) real time with your close friends and family. Now it's fleshing out that info with another important little detail: your phone's remaining battery charge.

5. Samsung's official launch video for the Galaxy Note 9 has also now leaked…

The Note 9 will be officially unveiled on August 9.

6. Google slowly lifting ban on addiction center ads after adding vetting process

More from Google: A small group of providers vetted by a third party have been approved by the company to appear in results for searches like "help quitting pills" or "meth addiction."

7. Matt Groening goes back to the drawing board for 'Disenchantment'

We talked to the creator of The Simpsons about his new fantasy show for Netflix.
