Bluesky capitalized on the situation and made a Threads account to keep tabs on the drama and point out that there are bluer skies on their platform. Read more 📝 AI application: People are using AI to help them apply for jobs by generating cover letters and résumés. But why not let the bots do the whole dang process? One guy tried this out and was able to apply to 17 jobs an hour. Read more 🚀 SpaceX spinout: Interlagos is a new venture firm led by former SpaceX execs that is looking to raise $550 million. The firm will focus on deep tech investments from inception to Series B. Probably some space investments, too, if I were to guess. The company now says that 10 million people have created pages on the platform. But it won't share how many jobs have been booked, so it's unclear how well it's actually going. Meta dropped its appeal and has agreed to a number of new updates meant to change how it interacts with user data. Read more 🦾 Browser commands: Opera is introducing new AI capabilities to its browser that allow users to type out a command, like bookmarking a tab, and it will do it for them. As someone who is incapable of closing tabs for some reason, I would love for someone to do it for me. Read more 🍹 Blurred idea: Social app Swsh is now a photo-sharing app. The company thinks it will stand out in the crowded category by having Gen Z features like the ability to blur alcohol out of an underaged user's photo, which is the wildest thing I've heard a startup say all week. Read more 👦 Combining forces: Today the U.S. and U.K. announced that they will set up a joint children's online safety working group to address some of the data and privacy issues affecting children online. Read more 📈 What's an exit? Startup exits have been few and far between for the last few years. PitchBook's Q3 data shows that the number of companies waiting to exit isn't just high, it's record-setting high. Read more | | | 🌝 FBI to the moon: No, not the actual moon. But the FBI did reveal yesterday that in an effort to investigate price manipulation, it created an Ethereum-based token of its own called NexFundAI. Fun! Read more 🤑 Money for misinformation: A FEMA official said earlier this week that they'd never seen more misinformation about a storm than about Hurricane Helene. Now Media Matters discovered that some of the folks spreading said misinformation on YouTube made money off their slop.
