Magic Leap won't come cheap. It's The Daily Crunch.

THE DAILY CRUNCH
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8 2018 By Anthony Ha

Magic Leap gets a price tag, Snapchat's user base shrinks and Slack is raising an enormous round. Here's your Daily Crunch for August 8, 2018.

1. Magic Leap One AR headset for devs costs more than 2x the iPhone X

Magic Leap will finally be shipping its first piece of hardware this summer, and it just revealed the price tag: $2,295.

To be clear, the Magic Leap One "creator edition" isn't meant to be a mass market device, but rather something that developers can use to create content. Still, it's a lot of money — and if you want the "Pro" edition, that'll cost you $495 more.

2. Snapchat shrinks by 3M users to 188M despite strong Q2

Though Snapchat managed to increase revenue and cut its losses, yesterday's earning report was a rough one for the company, with its first ever decline in user count.

3. Slack is raising $400M+ with a post-money valuation of $7B or more

We've learned that Slack is raising another round, with a post-money valuation of at least $7 billion — adding a whopping $2 billion on top of the company's last valuation.

4. Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 review

Brian Heater remains skeptical about convertible tablets' ability to truly replace laptops, but he liked the keyboard. He was also impressed by DeX, Samsung's custom desktop version of Android.

5. Twitter defends its decision to keep the Alex Jones conspiracy factory around

(Heavy sigh.)

6. Salesforce promotes COO Keith Block to co-CEO alongside founder Marc Benioff

Block will work alongside Salesforce's flamboyant founder, chairman and CEO (now co-CEO) Marc Benioff.

7. MoviePass Films announces its first production, with Bruce Willis as star

While MoviePass is best-known for its movie ticket subscription service, its parent company recently acquired Emmett Furla Oasis Films in order to launch a production arm, MoviePass Films.
