Star Wars is near and VR is over. It's The Daily Crunch.

THE DAILY CRUNCH
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 10 2017 By Darrell Etherington

Star Wars! Also it's over for virtual reality in case you were still holding on to hope, and Mark Zuckerberg delivered the death blow. All that and more in The Daily Crunch for October 10, 2017.

1. Star Wars trailer breakdown

Let's get real: Star Wars isn't exactly tech but none of us would be here if it wasn't for Star Wars. So the full-length trailer for The Last Jedi gets the top spot.

The trailer is great, watch it. And if you want a scene-by-scene breakdown, there is no better guide than Greg.

2. Mark Zuckerberg delivers a death blow to VR

Virtual Reality is over, in case you missed that news, but if you were still hanging on to some hope for it then Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made sure to put the "." on the end of VR's sentence with this horribly misguided virtual tour of Puerto Rico.

3. Nokia also ditching VR

Look, I don't mean to draw too fine a point here but VR is definitely dead again. Can't wait for the resurgence in like 10 years or whatever.

4. Twitter is launching a 'read later' tool

Twitter confirmed it's launching a bookmarking too for content shared on the social network, so you can save links for later reading. It was built at a company hackathon, and should debut "soon."

5. Airbnb Chinese rival raises $300 million

Airbnb competitor Tujia, a Chinese startup, has raised $300 million at a $1.5 billion valuation to help it grow globally. Vacation rental fight!

6. Hulu drops ad-supported tier pricing

Hulu is dropping its prices, as Netflix raises them. But the price drop is just for Hulu's ad-supported plan. Still, it's just $5.99 per month, which is cheap compared to the competition.

7. Nvidia built a Holodeck

In VR-may-not-be-entirely-dead-in-all-industries news, Nvidia built a holodeck for designers and developers. That's cool. VR's still dead though. Also AR but fewer people will let you in on that little secret.
